In recent years, the internet, especially on X (previously Twitter), has been inundated with odd and imaginative conspiracies emanating from all ends of the political spectrum. This is in contrast to the fact that social media has always been a fertile ground for conspiracy theories during the course of its existence. It would seem that many commentators and information consumers alike have lost the capacity to differentiate between reality and fiction as a result of the overwhelming amount of conspiracy theories that have been released, particularly by the right.
