A Blackhawk military helicopter crashed near Huntsville, Alabama on Wednesday, killing everyone on board.

“We have no survivors,” Investigator Brent Patterson said. “We have a crime scene here. We have it taped off.”

U.S. military officials said two people on board were killed.

The crash occurred at approximately 3 p.m. near the intersection of Burwell Road and Highway 53 near Huntsville, Alabama. This is about 10 miles northwest of Huntsville.

The National Guard Bureau confirmed that the helicopter belonged to the Tennessee National Guard and was on a routine training mission.

Redstone Arsenal released the following statement after the crash:

Redstone Arsenal leaders are aware of reports of a helicopter incident near Highway 53 in Huntsville. First responders are on scene, and Redstone Arsenal is in full support of local authorities in their active investigation. Initial investigations have not determined that the incident is connected to Redstone Arsenal assets, and we will continue to support community authorities as the situation develops.

Alabama Republican Congressman Dale Strong expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash.

My heart hurts for those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and for their families as they learn of this news.
