Earlier this year, Catholic Online School, the world’s largest online K-12 education program, was deplatformed by Shopify for its pro-life stance.

The move cost the organization millions in revenue, severely hampering its ability to provide education to 1.4 million students across 193 countries.

At its core, this incident is about more than the deplatforming of a single organization—it sheds light on the challenges faced by religious and conservative entities navigating a digital and legal landscape that hates Christians and traditional values.

It raises critical questions about corporate policies, freedom of religion, and the ability to foster faith and free speech. Moreover, it highlights the lack of support the Biden administration has shown for religious institutions.

From mocking a Christian attendee shouting “Jesus is Lord” during an abortion speech—an incident where Kamala Harris coldly responded, “You’re at the wrong rally”—to President Biden celebrating Easter Sunday as “Transgender Day of Visibility,” the Biden administration’s actions have shown a clear disregard for Christians and their beliefs.

While Biden claims to be Catholic, his staunchly pro-abortion stance and policies contradict core Church teachings.

President Biden has done little to protect Christians abroad. He removed Nigeria from the Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) list, despite over 62,000 Christians being murdered there since 2000.

This decision drew sharp criticism from The National Catholic Register and other Christian media outlets.

The Congressional Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs recently addressed these failures during a hearing titled “Faith Under Fire: An Examination of Global Religious Persecution.”

Members called on the Biden administration to prioritize protecting religious freedoms worldwide and emphasized how its foreign policy missteps have emboldened hostile groups to intensify their persecution of religious minorities.

On the domestic front, FBI hate crime statistics from 2022 show that bias attacks against Christians surpass those against Muslims, yet these incidents rarely receive presidential acknowledgment or action.

Meanwhile, as crimes against Christians are downplayed, the administration has actively targeted Christian institutions and individuals.

Nearly 70 percent of the Department of Education’s enforcement actions under Biden have focused on Christian and charter schools, even though these schools represent less than 10 percent of the student population.

Michael Galloway, the founder of Catholic Online School, believes the attacks on Christian websites and education, particularly Catholic institutions, stem from their pro-life stance and the Church’s views on contentious issues like homosexuality and transgenderism.

He explained that “being a homosexual is never going to be accepted in the Church,” and described transgenderism as “a way to mutilate your body.” He added, “God was smarter than us and gave you DNA, and we got male and female, and that’s it, end of story.” Galloway asserts that “this hatred is so deep-seated against the Church.”

Mr. Galloway started the online school because he was appalled by the woke curriculum his 15 grandchildren were being taught, which included lessons on transgenderism and sexually explicit content about same-sex relationships.

He also believed that education is key to reducing abortions, further motivating him to create the program. Galloway emphasized that abortion has affected not only families in the United States but likely those around the world as well.

“We’re not gonna make any headway by showing the pictures of abortion and all this stuff anymore,” he explained. “It’s just a turnoff for people.”

Instead, he advocated for a more constructive approach, proposing the creation of a university and video-based supplemental classes focused on healing and forgiveness to help people move forward and work toward positive change.

Galloway recounted how Shopify initially shut down their operations and then, within a day, proceeded to shut down all of their other associated companies, including a site where people could light prayer candles.

He highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that Shopify is  a Canadian company, and “it’s really woke up  there.” Galloway revealed, “I had a Catholic guy who worked inside Shopify call me. He said, ‘You guys are on some sort of domestic terrorist list.’”

Mr. Galloway’s claim about Catholics appearing on government watch lists is supported by a report from the House Judiciary Committee and its Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

The report, titled “The FBI’s Breach of Religious Freedom: The Weaponization of Law Enforcement Against Catholic Americans,” reveals alarming actions by the FBI against traditional Catholics.

It details how a memorandum from the FBI’s Richmond Field Office labeled certain “radical-traditionalist Catholics” as potential domestic terrorists and even proposed infiltrating Catholic churches and developing sources among clergy to monitor parishioners.

President Trump accused Biden of weaponizing the Justice Department to persecute Catholics and other Christians, echoing the findings of a 2023 congressional hearing on government overreach.

Trump has pledged that, once in office, he will put an end to the persecution of Christians and restore freedom of speech. Christians pray that Trump will Make America Safe for Christians Again.
